Behind the Look: How SEV Developed the Celebrity Laser Hair Removal Experience

Whether you're a movie star or working a 9-to-5, SEV believes you deserve the A-List treatment
You may have caught pics of Khloe Kardashian showing off her smooth, glowing skin on Insta. Or maybe you heard about a certain “wardrobe incident” involving Chrissy Teigen at the 2016 American Music Awards. Whatever the case, there’s a good chance you’ve seen the immaculate work of SEV Laser Aesthetics, medspa to the stars.
While SEV caters to some of the biggest names in Hollywood, founder Sevana Petrosian originally built SEV with a far more modest goal: to give everyone a chance to look and feel like a superstar. This mission has allowed SEV to grow from a single medspa to 30 (and counting) locations across the country, with clients that range from multi-millionaire celebs to average workaday folks. Here’s how SEV made it happen.
From humble beginnings
While SEV is now a household name, its beginnings were far more humble. The daughter of Armenian immigrants, Sevana came to the US at a young age. She spent her formative years obsessed with beauty care and aesthetics, often giving friends and family handmade lotions and other concoctions as gifts.
Sevana felt the calling to break into aesthetic care when she discovered how lucrative a laser hair removal business could be. Realizing she could provide a high-level quality of service to a broader audience for lower prices, she opened her first location in Glendale, California, in 2010, then under the name Glendale Laser Center.
Sevana was a one-woman show, running every aspect of the business, from marketing to accounting to serving her clients. With a handful of clients under her belt, positive online reviews and word-of-mouth raves helped take care of the rest, eventually attracting clients from all over Los Angeles.
As Sevana’s business expanded and her list of clients grew to include famed influencers and celebrities — including the Kardashian-Jenners, her first celebrity clients — she changed the business's name to SEV. Even in the face of success, she remains humble, owing her current success to her faith in God. Every location is adorned with the phrase “By the Grace of God,” a reminder of how her faith guided her during uncertain times.
Medspa to the stars — and the people
The key behind SEV’s business model — and why they’re trusted by celebrities like Khloe Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen, and Eva Longoria — is an effective, results-driven approach to aesthetics. This, combined with a luxurious, personal touch that’s affordable for the masses, has helped SEV stand head and shoulders above the competition.
SEV utilizes cutting-edge Alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers to ensure anyone can receive effective treatments with long-lasting results, no matter their skin color. “It’s crazy how well laser hair removal works,” recounts model Meredith Mickelson. “I go every six months to keep the consistency, but the results have lasted so long.”
SEV also provides other medspa treatments, including Forma skin tightening, SkinPen microneedling, and injectables like Botox and Dysport. Its approach to quality has made it the go-to place celebrities trust for getting touch-ups before a public event like red carpet galas or weddings.
All this talk of famous people may make it seem like SEV’s services are unattainable for all but the wealthiest and most connected, but that couldn’t be further from the truth; SEV has made affordable luxury its primary mission. Sevana’s core belief is that everyone deserves to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin, and she is committed to keeping prices affordable for anyone who desires first-class medspa treatment.
Even with affordability at its core, SEV still provides a luxurious — yet unpretentious — and personalized experience for every person who walks through the doors at any of its locations.
Next stop: Global domination
With tens of thousands of five-star reviews, SEV is the trusted laser hair removal service for superstars and discerning clients seeking superstar caliber results. SEV has also begun to spread its reach outside of California, with locations in New York City, Miami, Florida, Chicago, Illinois, and more. Next, Sevana plans to expand her business internationally and develop products allowing customers to take the SEV experience home.
